Performance nutritionist at Red Bull Athlete Performance Center in Thalgau, Austria

 

We are looking for a performance nutritionist who is highly driven and enthusiastic, who can provide evidence based nutrition advice to Red Bull athletes, perform nutrition related testing and is responsible for food offerings for athletes who visit the APC in Thalgau. The nutrition coach at the APC will take guidance from and work closely with the Head of Performance Nutrition (Asker Jeukendrup) and will report to the Head of Performance. 

 

The APC will provide visiting athletes with a great experience that will provide a professional nutrition environment that educates and delivers nutrition according to a set number of rules including, nutrition should be fresh, real foods before supplements, and above all evidence based. 

 

 

Specific Functions

 

  • Implement nutrition strategies at Red Bull APC (strategies developed by Head Performance Nutrition or in collaboration with HPN)

  • Work closely with the other disciplines to deliver the services

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing applied high performance services to athletes (and coaches).

  • Communicate regularly and effectively with the Director of the APC and the High Performance manager.  

  • Advising athletes (and teams) on how diet can optimise their performance, enhance recovery from injury and between training sessions, and achieve optimum body size and build for their sport. 

  • Develop educational materials for players and staff

  • Communicate with the caterers to make sure that all meals are in line with Red Bull’s nutrition strategy.  

  • Making sure all sports nutrition (supplements) provided is safe and tested through the Informed Sport scheme or similar where apropriate. 

  • Organise sweat testing sessions and hydration checks

  • Perform fatmax testing

  • Actively maintain communication with Prof Asker Jeukendrup who will support and guide mostly from a distance via calls and webex. 

 

 

Qualifications and skills

 

  • Educated to a degree level within Sports nutrition/ Sports dietetics. In special cases sport science will be considered as well but may require additional education efforts. 

  • Work experience within sports nutrition with recreational or elite athletes. 

  • SENr registration preferred

  • IOC diploma sports nutrition preferred

  • Familiarity with working online using Skype, Webex, Dropbox and creating webinars and videos. Calm Under Pressure. Maintains stable performance when under heavy
pressure or stress.

  • Comfortable with communicating in English, German speaking is not a specific requirement.
